Baby sitting on passenger's lap dies in high-speed crash

A driver and a baby died after a serious accident in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, according to authorities.

According to a preliminary investigation, 25-year-old James Lee Bernard III was driving a gray 2007 Mercury Milan northbound on E. Grand Avenue at high speed when he lost control and struck a tree.

A 22-year-old female passenger was in the front of the vehicle with a baby in her lap when the accident occurred.

Bernard died on impact and the passenger was taken by Dallas Firefighters to a local hospital in serious condition. The baby was also taken to the hospital, but later passed away.
