Mexico City, June 3 (appro).—The National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef) revealed that during the first four months of the year Banco Azteca, Citibanamex, Banorte and BBVA were the institutions with the most complaints from their clients, covering 68% of the total.

According to the authority, the main nonconformities were charges, consumptions or unrecognized transfers through the Internet, mobile banking or traditionally, on credit and debit cards.

According to the statistical processor of the Condusef, the majority of claims between January and April were for electronic transfers not recognized by customers with a total of 10,209 complaints, which meant an increase of 70% compared to the same period of 2022.

It was followed by unrecognized consumption in the account statements, with 9,878 complaints, an increase of 18% in the reference period, then unrecognized charges with 3,536, which meant an increase of 15.7%; and the fourth most common cause was that collection efforts or debt structure negotiations were carried out with people who are not the account holders, with 2,281 claims.

According to the financial institution, credit cards were the products with the most claims with a total of 14,099; debit, 13 thousand 354 complaints, which meant an increase of 3.6% and 40.6%, respectively.

For savings accounts there were 4 thousand 791 complaints; checking accounts, 3 thousand 631; while the payroll accounts represented 3 thousand 34 claims.

According to the Condusef, the bank with the most claims was Citibanamex, with 14,047, an increase of 66.7%; It is followed by BBVA with 9,457, that is, an increase of 12.9%; Banco Azteca with 8 thousand 172, which represents an increase of 14.8%; while Banorte registered 6,761 complaints.

In short, the commission received a total of 55,760 claims from bank users, 15% more than in the same period in 2022, when 48,498 complaints were reported, according to figures from the agency.
