The soccer players of FC Bayern Munich have won the top game of the twelfth game day in the Bundesliga. The German champions of 2021 defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 (1-0) on Saturday in front of 2,500 spectators on the sold-out Bayern campus.
Glodis Perla Viggosdottir (25th minute) and Lea Schüller (79th) scored the goal that saw FC Bayern edge the Hessians from second place in the table. For Eintracht, who have been waiting for a win in Munich since 2016, Lara Prasnikar’s goal (82nd) was not enough. Carolin Simon could have increased the lead to 3:1 for the hosts in added time, but she only hit the post.
In the first leg, both teams drew 0-0 at the start of the season in front of a record crowd of 23,200 spectators in Frankfurt. FC Bayern is now the first pursuer of the sovereign leader VfL Wolfsburg. The defending champion and cup winner without a loss plays this Sunday (1 p.m.) at SGS Essen. (dpa)
