On Wednesday evening, BVB managed to win the Champions League round of 16 first leg. As the Victory goal for the 1:0 against Chelsea fell, the fans were beside themselves. Signal Iduna Park shook, people sang, shouted and cheered.

BVB fans make Michael Ballack wet

As is usual in football, there was also a toast – and one or two beer showers were distributed. Dazn commentator Uli Lever and expert and co-commentator Michael Ballack also got wet. Hebe was not very surprised and stated: “We got the beer shower here. But let’s take it with us. 1-0 Borussia Dortmund”.

Ballack, on the other hand, saw things a little differently and hissed “Asi, ey!” into his microphone. Shortly thereafter he started another sentence, but broke it off again after the first word.

After a few seconds, the commentators turned back to football and Karim Adeyemi’s goal, which Ballack praised highly. He described the goal as an “attack to enjoy” that was “absolutely world class”.

“Asi” designation after the BVB goal hits the net badly

Nevertheless, the former Chelsea star received a lot of criticism shortly afterwards and ended up in the Twitter trends for the “Asi” designation of BVB fans. One user even expressed the wish that Ballack would lose his expert job because of the statement.

Another user joked that he should next time Turn off the mic before “you call people ‘assistants'”.

While most were outraged by Ballack’s phrasing, some people agreed with him. A beer shower is “stop ass”. In addition, “the real scandal” is that “people get so upset about it” and you can’t even complain in the stadium anymore.

Users joke about the comment

In addition to many serious discussions surrounding the spell, others were much more amused by Ballack’s remark. One user wrote that she hoped that BVB’s “beer shame” could be “completely cleared up”.

Others also suspected that he so far, I’ve only ever watched games from the VIP lounge and had never really been to the stadium as a fan.
