On Saturday night, a 40-year-old man was beaten and homophobically insulted by an unknown person at the Wittenbergplatz underground station in Berlin-Schoeneberg. The police announced this in the morning. According to initial findings, there was a dispute between the two men around 10 p.m. on the U1 subway train in the direction of Uhlandstrasse. When the subway pulled into Wittenbergplatz station, the stranger hit the 40-year-old in the face with his fist and then insulted him homophobly.

According to the police, the 40-year-old climbed back into the wagon to prevent further confrontations. The unknown perpetrator left the platform in the direction of the exit. The alerted police forces could no longer find the suspect, it is said. The 40-year-old man suffered a laceration in his eye and sought medical treatment on his own, police said.
