In order to promote the comprehensive development of children and young people with different abilities, as well as social inclusion, the municipality of Bellavista started swimming workshops in the district’s municipal pool.

The course has the objective of encouraging the practice of swimming as a complete sport. It has numerous benefits for children with disabilities, as it helps them relax and tone the body. It also improves strength and physical endurance and increases lung capacity.

Children and young people with attention deficit disorders, hyperactivity, autism, Down syndrome and mental retardation participate, who in a playful way will be able to acquire the basic knowledge of swimming and have a pleasant time.

The workshops in the pool are also available for older adults and the possibility of providing access to the general public at a social cost is being evaluated.

As recalled, in the first days of January, the current administration of Mayor Alex Callán found the pool in deplorable conditions due to its abandonment by previous administrations and the actions of criminals that vandalized the facilities.

After 25 days of intense recovery work, the pool now has new stairs, floors covered with rubber mats. The motors, pumps and filter system were refurbished. The stands, the shower area, restrooms and dressing rooms were remodeled, replacing the stolen belongings.

The perimeter fence was also reinforced. the green areas recovered with ornamental plants and the two entrances were duly painted and marked.
