Berlusconi's will is opened and his son denies the sale of Mediaset

The testament of Silvio Berlusconi It has stopped being a secret. At least for lawyers Luca Fossati of the firm Chiomenti and Charles Rimini.

Fossati “represented” the tycoon’s children at the notary’s office, Marina and Pier Silvioand his colleague to the other three: Barbara, Eleonora and Luigi. Its content and the dissemination of the last wills of “The eternal”is not expected to be released before the Milan stock market closes and even the heirs could wait a day or two.

The two lawyers left the office of the Milanese notary at noon Roveda and they returned to the Via Pagano building in Milan that houses their offices. Now the official reading is missing for the children of the founder of Mediaset and Forza Italia.

Given the incessant rumors about sales and counter-sales of different divisions of the emporium, the CEO of Media For Europe (formerly Mediaset), Pier Silvio Berlusconi, denied the sale of the media group after the death of his father and founder. He did it, during the presentation of the next television season of his Italian channels.

The denial of Pier Silvio

“I am proud that Italian companies are studying their international expansion and not that pieces of Italy are conquered by a foreign group,” argued Pier Silvio, reports Efeafter responding with a blunt: «No» to a question about sales hypotheses.

In 2021, Berlusconi merged Mediaset Italy and his Spanish twin in the group Media For Europe (MFE)with headquarters in the Netherlands and the goal of creating a pan-European group to compete with new operators such as Netflix y Amazon.

However, after the death of its founder last month, the Italian business press speculated about the sale of MFE, of which the Berlusconi family owns 49% through its holding company, Fininvest.

According to Pier Silvio, the family “has not spoken” about this hypothetical sale: “It bothered me that with the death of my father there were such hypotheses, but it is normal.”

Already in 2016, the French group Vivendi launched a failed takeover bid to take over Mediaset Italia and still has a minority stake in MFE, which Pier Silvio described as a “silent financial partner”while some newspapers leaked that Berlusconi recently rejected an offer from the American group Discovery.

In this sense, the MFE administrator recalled that it has recently acquired 30% of the German group ProSiebenSat in its objective of building a European audiovisual operator without giving up the television business, in decline compared to streaming platforms.

“The problem with television is not that it is old or that it is national, but that the current channels are too small and we have to leave our borders,” he analyzed.

According to Pier Silvio, the MFE project involves creating a larger platform, with a “versatile commercial policy at the European level” and “national products that receive attention in each country.”

Following these statements, MFE-B shares registered a decrease of 1.24% on the Stock Market from Milan.
