Laura Teresa Vázquez Peña, best graduate of the first promotion of the Taiwan Paraguay Polytechnic University (UPTP), highlighted that they have a unique experience by being part of this innovative educational project.

“When we decided to be part of the UPTP, my colleagues and I took a risk. We took a leap of faith, choosing to be part of something new, something innovative, a project rich with potential. I confess that until the last day I was undecided, and it was the day the registrations closed when I finally decided to register for the entrance exam. Looking back, I realize that it was the best decision I could have made, because today that risk has its reward”, he indicated.
He said that in the house of studies they learned to study in a new language, EnglishThey had the opportunity to work in high tech labs and in being instructed by highly qualified teachers. “We lived the unique experience of traveling abroad and crossing three semesters of the study program in the prestigious classrooms of Taiwan Tech. The time we spent in Taiwan was unforgettable. Surrounded by diversity and skyscrapers, we understood how vast the world is. We discovered the beauty of Taiwanese culture and understood the importance of pronouncing tones correctly when speaking Chinese,” he said.
“Taiwan Tech’s international and multicultural environment taught us valuable lessons of adaptability, resilience and empathy. Thanks to the authorities of Paraguay and Taiwan for making this educational project a reality”, he said.

In total there are 84 new engineers from the careers of the Faculty of Engineering, Civil, Electromechanical, Industrial and Computer Science who received their professional titles. The young people started classes in 2019 and despite the obstacles they managed to successfully complete their university studies.
The first class of engineers is called “Promotion 2022 – in honor of Matías Jesús Espínola Mereles”in memory of a Paraguayan scholar who died in Taiwanese territory.
Although up to now the UPTP does not have its own office, several proposals were made to the outgoing government. The university began its activities in a property of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee and as a result of the Odesur Olympics, the COP authorities requested the transfer to another place. It is currently in a property belonging to the Armed Forces.
