Biden approves the disaster declaration in New Jersey for the "severe" mid july storms

MADRID, 12 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, has declared this Friday that “there is a great disaster in the state of New Jersey” and has ordered federal assistance to “complement state and local recovery efforts in areas affected by severe storms and floods of July 14 and 15”.

The White House has assured in a statement that “federal funds are available to eligible state and local governments, as well as to certain private NGOs on a cost-share basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of storm-damaged facilities. severe and flooding in Warren County”.

In this sense, Biden has guaranteed that these same federal funds are also contemplated “for risk mitigation in all states”, also on a shared cost basis.

The note from the US Executive also clarifies that there is the possibility of “making additional designations” at a later date if so requested and justified by the state in question based on “the results of additional damage assessments.”

This is not the first time that Biden has found himself in a similar position this year. For example, on July 22, the President of the United States approved a disaster declaration in response to the recent storms and floods that have affected the state of New York as a result of the storms and floods that took place on the 9th and 10 of the same month.
