Biden drops out of re-election campaign, Newsmax reports

According to the television network Newsmax, President Joe Biden has just announced that he is abandoning his re-election bid.

Under intense pressure from Democratic leaders and left-wing figures, Biden decides not to continue his run for another four years in the White House.

Hours earlier, Donald Trump’s campaign had said it would not “change its fundamental objectives” if Joe Biden withdrew, said Jason Miller, one of the Republican candidate’s closest advisers, who is participating in the party’s convention in Milwaukee.

Asked about growing rumors that Biden would throw in the towel in the coming hours, Miller replied: “Whether it’s Joe Biden, (Vice President) Kamala Harris or another radical left Democrat, they are all responsible for the destruction of our economy and the disintegration of our borders,” he added.

The Biden campaign has not said whether the president will support his replacement candidate.
