During his visit to Warsaw in the middle of the war between Russia and Ukraine, Joe Bidenpresident of the United States, referred to the current climate in the European country and assured that the conflict increased the desire of the West to defend democracy.

“The democracies of the world will watch over freedom today, tomorrow and forever,” said the president, according to the AFP agency. He later added that “kyiv remains strong. kyiv is proud.”

The president also explained that “hard and bitter days are coming” regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine, and emphasized the difficulties that the current war is creating for European civil life. “We have to have security in Europe. It’s that basic, that simple, that consistent,” he said.

Amid tensions between Russia and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the president noted that it is “perhaps the most consistent alliance in history and is now stronger than it has ever been.”

In this sense, the president pointed out the importance of democracy. “Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia. Democracy was too strong for Putin. Democracy in the world has grown stronger, but the autocrats have grown weaker,” Biden closed.
