More than 30 carnival groups met to the battle cry “Gola Gola – ussi drolla”.
The Montafon communities of Tschagguns and Vandans always take turns organizing the largest carnival parade in the valley. This year over 30 groups met in Tschagguns to properly celebrate the fifth season. In Tschagguns, the colorful entourage is traditionally led by the “Gola Kuah”. The parade started at 2 p.m. at the fire station in Tschagguns in glorious weather.
All groups then marched through the town center to the school square, where each participant received sausages, bread and soda as a thank you. But the hustle and bustle was far from over. The finale took place in the gym in Tschagguns, where young and old alike took part. After the Gola cow came the harmony music, as well as kindergarten and elementary school in their imaginative costumes. While the kindergarten was completely dedicated to the motto of Gugga music this year, the elementary school children showed everything that grows and flourishes as gardeners, scarecrows, butterflies and caterpillars and as dwarfs on the theme of “Growing and thriving”. The more than 30 participating groups were joined by various Gugga musicians from near and far, who repeatedly provided musical highlights.
This year, in addition to colorful clowns, smart frogs, wild monkeys and imaginative light bulbs also took part in the parade. But the witch’s costume was also on display in numerous versions that afternoon. So the colorful entourage made its way to the town center for around an hour. The numerous spectators who lined the streets of Tschagguns that afternoon and gave a lot of applause to the small and large Mäschgerle had fun, as did the participants, who were happy to be carried away by the good atmosphere and the good weather and extensively after the corona-related failures of the last ones Years let the carnival live.
