Ciclovia remodelada.

The Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood is launching a renovated double-width bike lane that will make cyclists and pedestrians safer in this sector of Manhattan.

The ten-foot-wide lane is located on Tenth Avenue between West 38th and West 52nd Streets.

The project includes two concrete pedestrian islands, a redesign of intersections and new spaces to secure bicycles.

Transportation authorities explain how this lane not only benefits cyclists, but also pedestrians.

“In places where bicycle lines are placed, statistics show that we reduce the number of people who die from pedestrians by more than twenty percent and when older people walk in this area, fatalities are also reduced by thirty-nine.” percent,” said Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodríguez.

“Bicyclists have gotten 10 more feet on 10th Ave!

“The new redesign of 10th Ave from 38th St to 52nd St in Manhattan includes a wider, more welcoming #BikeNYC lane, bike parking, intersection safety improvements, concrete pedestrian islands, and dedicated, marked turn lanes,” he wrote also the Department of Transportation in a message on social networks.

This project is part of Mayor Adams’ plan to create a record number of protected bike lanes in the city.
