For second consecutive Year, Binancethe world’s leading blockchain and cryptocurrency infrastructure provider, delivered workshops on cybersecurity, blockchain and cryptography to the Specialized Fiscal Unit for the Investigation of Cybercrimes, of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Judicial Department of San Isidro; the Technical Department of Cybercrime of the Argentine Federal Police; the team from the Forensic Computer Laboratory of the Argentine National Gendarmerie; and the Specialized Fiscal Unit in Cybercrime of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Presentations addressed concepts of blockchain and crypto assetsBinance’s AML (anti-money laundering) policies, and processes and tools developed by the company to assist law enforcement in the fight against cyber and financial crimes.

Among the speakers were Pablo Vera and Florencia Rampiresearch specialists from Binance’s Intelligence and Investigations team, led by Matt Price, Binance Global Director of Intelligence and Investigations, Former IRS Criminal Investigations Special Agent in the Cybercrime Unit in Washington; and Diego Bastourre, director of Public Affairs of Binance for the Southern Cone.

“The coordinated work between the “public and the private” has never represented such an important asset as in the investigation of economic cybercrime, where Binance, especially, along with some others, feeds the link strongly,” said Alejandro Musso, head of the Specialized Fiscal Unit for Cybercrime Investigation (UFECI) of the San Isidro Judicial Department.

For his part, Horacio Azzolin, Attorney General of the Specialized Cybercrime Prosecutor Unit (UFECI), of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, pointed out: “During 2023, UFECI has among its objectives to generate capacities in the investigation of operations with crypto assets in the Public Prosecutor’s Office. In this line, the interaction with the various actors of the ecosystem is essential. We are very grateful to the entire Binance team for their commitment and willingness to explain various aspects of the company that are highly relevant to our research We received very good feedback from the public and this is due, on the one hand, to the interest aroused by the subject and, on the other another, to the high level of the exhibitions”.

These actions are part of the continuous work of Binance around the world to gain insight into market intelligence and help strengthen efforts to prevent, investigate, and combat financial crime. Last year, in Buenos Aires, Binance already offered similar workshops for investigators at the 7th Meeting of the Interpol Americas Task Force on Cybercrime for Heads of Unit; the Specialized Fiscal Unit in Cybercrime of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Argentina; and for the Police of the City of Buenos Aires.
