Microsoft has just updated its Edge and Bing mobile apps. The new version of the search engine, which includes ChatGPT, can now be used from your iPhone or Android smartphone.
Just two weeks after having launched in 169 countries the preview of the new version of Bing which integrates ChatGPT, Microsoft has just announced that it was now accessible on mobile. The Redmond company, which already claims more than a million users of what it likes to call its “Copilot of the Web”, has just updated its Edge and Bing applications on iOS and Android.
ChatGPT by keyboard or by voice
In addition to a completely redesigned interface, the new version of the Bing application allows (like the new version of Edge), access to the “Conversation” function of the search engine. Powered by OpenAI’s artificial intelligence model, this Conversation mode is now accessible by selecting the Bing icon displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Microsoft is also taking advantage of this update to introduce a feature that is visibly in high demand by users. Your discussion session with the chatbot can indeed be done in two ways: by entering your questions on the keyboard, as you probably already do from your computer, but also and above all by voice.
After giving Bing permission to access your smartphone’s microphone, you can chat naturally with Microsoft’s Chabot, which will also be happy to answer you out loud.
The new Bing also integrated with Skype
Last January, the Microsoft boss confirmed that Microsoft intended to integrate ChatGPT into all of its products. The Redmond firm has kept its word and has just announced the arrival of Bing and its chatbot in Skype. During a conversation with your loved ones, you will only have to mention Bing using an at sign (@Bing) to ask him a question. The chatbot will then publish directly in the conversation a response visible to all participants.
The firm also warns that this preview of Bing on mobile may be subject to some slowdowns, especially if you use it in degraded connection conditions. The American firm, aware of the problem, explains that it is working on a fix.
Note that you will only be able to access all these features if Microsoft already has access to them after passing the waiting list stage. Otherwise, you will have no choice but to subscribe to this list, and wait until Microsoft authorizes a new burst of users to access it.
