Bird crashes into Southwest plane and leaves a dent in the nose of the plane that was traveling to Burbank airport

A Southwest plane struck a bird, sustaining significant damage to the nose or front of the plane.

The incident was reported this Thursday at the Burbank airport. Southwest plane 1422 was traveling from Las Vegas and was bound for Hollywood’s Bob Hope Airport.

“There was a confirmed bird strike around 2:15 p.m. It happened to a Southwest flight as it was approaching land. It landed safely: no impact on operations, no injuries,” airport spokespersons reported. Bob Hope.

“The flight is being reviewed for safety reasons and possible repairs,” they added in the statement.

Aerial images show the Southwest plane parked in a corner of the Burbank airport with a dent just below the cockpit.

The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that they are investigating what happened.

So far it has not been specified what type of bird collided with the plane.
