Just before the new year, the crowd favorite Every time we meet is back on the TV screen again, where a star team of artists gathers for a musical feast on Kjerringøy outside Bodø.

Among these are ring foxes such as Bjørn Eidsvåg (68) and young shooting stars such as Emma Steinbakken (19) and Kaleb Isaac Ghebreiesus (23), better known as Isah.

And it was precisely between these participants that a cross-generational bond of friendship arose during the recording of the program in late summer this year.

Emma impresses with her interpretation of “The River” – this is how Bjørn reacts

– Super happy with Bjørn

When TV 2 recently met the three Every time we meet artists, they openly shared about the good relationship they have developed with each other despite an age difference of almost 50 years.

Steinbakken initially found it strange to be in the company of a veteran like Eidsvåg.

– It was special. It was probably special in the beginning. And then you get to know the person, and then you feel better in a way. It’s obviously special to sit there and talk, and not least cover artists that you have an insane amount of respect for and have listened to a lot. So it was educational, nice and nerve-wracking all at the same time. But I’m very happy about it now, she says to TV 2.

The singing talent goes on to say that she and the 68-year-old became good friends through the TV recordings.

– I am super happy with Bjørn, and I hope I will continue to have him in my life for as long as I can. It’s super nice, and he’s a very wise man and has done a lot of different things, she says, and adds:

– We had a lot of nice conversations. Bjørn is the kind of guy that if things go terribly bad in life, you have to call Bjørn.

The 19-year-old also refers to the popular musician as a kind of grandfather figure.

– I didn’t imagine he would be so funny, but he is super funny. He might be a bit of a grandfather. Very nice.

– Do you keep in touch?

– It’s not like we talk on a daily basis, but we’ve been talking since we were recording.

– Who would have thought?

Isah also got a good note with the “Eg ser” artist on Kjerringøy.

– It has been very “easy”. Even though he is the oldest in the group, he manages to be with the younger ones – he manages to screw around and have fun. I may have grown a little, and then he may have gotten the fountain of youth from me again, so I feel it went both ways, says the 23-year-old gently.

– We send messages to each other now and then. We keep in touch with each other. Who would have thought? There is a big age and cultural difference. It is not something that is very expected, but it is something that has happened, he continues.

The Stavanger boy has also learned from his new friend Eidsvåg.

– What I have learned from Bjørn is not to take everything so seriously. Live your life, be open to things. I feel I got that from him. He is a guy who has done most in music, but also in life. He has gone through many things. I feel that I, being so young, have not experienced half of what he has experienced. I feel it resonates a lot with doing things to the fullest and loving it.

– Does not notice the age difference

Eidsvåg, for his part, applauds the promising youngsters, and expresses that he has come to like them both.

– They have such strong faith in themselves. They have a good self-image as artists in addition to being strong in themselves, so I don’t notice the age difference, he says to TV 2, and continues:

– I notice it from time to time in jargon, language and humor and things like that, but not musically, so for me it’s been a lot of fun. I really liked Emma and Isah. We have developed a good relationship.

This is the artists’ favorite Christmas song – one of which they chose their own

Watch the premiere of Every time we meet on Sunday 1 January at 8pm on TV 2 Direkte and TV 2 Play.
