The Greens parliamentary group in the House of Representatives wants to bring the expansion of the Berlin Mobility Act decided by the old Senate into parliament. On Tuesday, the Senate withdrew the amendment to the law at short notice – it was intended to discuss it in the first reading in the plenary session on Thursday.

“If the process starts all over again, it will take a year or even longer,” said Antje Kapek, spokeswoman for the Greens for transport policy, the daily mirror. “The black-red coalition threatens to block Berlin.”

The new sections of the draft law provide for delivery and loading zones for commercial traffic, among other things, as well as an expansion of parking space management, a public platform for traffic data – and a “Consistent” reduction in motorized private transport.

If the SPD and CDU want to change the content of the draft, they could also do so in the parliamentary process.

“For the development, district representatives and business associations were consulted, the text has been agreed with all Senate administrations‘ explains Kapek. “If the SPD and CDU want to change the content of the draft, they could also do so in the parliamentary process. This way we save time and iteration loops.”

After the Senate session on Tuesday, a press release said the coalition wanted to revise the draft “with a focus on commercial transactions” and bring it back to Parliament “as soon as possible”.. At the most recent session of the House of Representatives, Kapek wanted to know when the government is expecting this. The responsible transport senator Manja Schreiner (CDU) was represented by her state secretary Claudia Elif Stutz. “As soon as possible,” she said when asked.

The Greens now want to put Schreiner and Black and Red under pressure and plan to Draft to be put on the agenda together with the left in one of the next meetings. “The coalition has the majority, but we are trying to build a bridge.”
