Four years ago, The Game Kitchen seduced Metroidvania fans with Blasphemous and its atypical atmosphere. It is with joy that fans of the Penitent welcomed the announcement of Blasphemous 2 by Team17 during Nintendo Indie World. Indeed, the publisher invites players to prolong the penance in an announcement trailer full of action and creatures straight out of hell.
The splendor of sacri-gore
Blasphemous 2 stands out for its artistic direction and its atmosphere which mixes gore and unease linked to the sacred. Indeed, the rare voids that the action can leave are filled by the painting of a world and infernal creatures that refer to the holy scriptures. This artistic choice creates a universe that is both splendid and harrowing in which the player survives.
In this second entry in the license, the Penitent stands up against the supernatural entity of the “Miracle” and seeks to avoid the birth of a new miraculous child. Blasphemous 2 promises us a good dose of gothic charm in a world filled with traps and imposing enemies.
The Game Kitchen says they’ve added far more violent executions and combos to clear the Penitent’s path. They will be added to the customization of skills and the new weapons made available for the judgment that it is given to us to apply.
On the strength of its success, Blasphemous has offered itself a DLC with another size of the genre which will be able to extend the adventure to new players by the release of the second part.
Blasphemous 2 will be available in late summer 2023 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.
