343 Industries was founded 16 years ago with the sole task of handling all things Halo-related after Bungie left Microsoft to become independent. Unfortunately, they’ve never quite been able to deliver the same masterpiece that Bungie created, and their latest title Halo Infinite has been heavily criticized for bugs, lack of support, missing features, and stupid decisions like forcing console players to play against PC in multiplayer.

In a new Bloomberg report, Jason Schreier had a lot of interesting things to say about both 343 Industries and Halo (which we reported on earlier today). Most of these are things we’ve heard rumors about before, but Schreier writing about them is as close to confirmation as we’ll get, and apparently no new single-player Halo is in development, as well as a graphics engine change under new boss Pierre Hintze .

It also seems that the ten year plan for Halo Infinite is also no longer valid because “recent moves point to a shorter-term vision”. However, this doesn’t mean we won’t get a new Halo as Certain Affinity (a studio founded by Bungie defectors) is working on Tatanka (working title), which is the long-rumored Halo Battle Royale project that once was intended as new content for Halo Infinite. Now it is instead stated to be a separate title that has been developed “in different directions”.

Hopefully, Tatanka with a new graphics engine can prove to be exactly what the Halo series needs, and a new single player adventure, as I said, will have to wait a long time.
