Three weeks before the Rahmede viaduct on the A45 in Lüdenscheid, which is important throughout Germany, is to be blown up, experts will provide information on Friday about the planned course of action for the spectacular project. The demolition expert of the commissioned company (read here: How Heitkamp prepared the demolition of the Rahmede Viaduct) as well as representatives of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Autobahn GmbH of the Federal Government want to explain the details on site (12 p.m.) at the construction site.

Blow up of the Rahmede viaduct: fall bed is heaped up

Huge amounts of earth have been piled up underneath the structure for several months – as a fall bed for the bridge on May 7th.

The bridge on the Sauerland line from the 1960s, which is up to 70 meters high and a good 450 meters long, has been completely closed since December 2021 due to severe damage. The consequences are serious.

Rahmede Viaduct: Central axis is interrupted

The central north-south axis between Frankfurt and Dortmund is interrupted. The residents of Lüdenscheid and the entire region have been hit hard in terms of health, economy and finances by massive detour traffic, traffic jams, sluggish delivery traffic and loss of sales. In the NRW state parliament, a committee of inquiry will soon deal with the disaster. (dpa)
