The stock markets of Mexico closed the session on Thursday with gains, in line with its peers Wall Street. The local indices rose, extending their strong positive movements at the beginning of the year after the publication of economic data in USA.

The leading index S&P/BMV CPI of the Mexican stock exchange (BMV), which groups the 35 most traded shares in the domestic market, rose 0.53% to 55,164.01 units. The FTSE BIVAof the Institutional Stock Exchange (Biva), rose 0.51% to 1,151.11 units.

The Mexican indices have advanced in 17 of the 19 trading days that have been completed in 2023. From a close of 48,463.86 points on the last day of 2022, the benchmark S&P/BMV IPC accumulates a gain of 13.83 percent for the year.

Within the benchmark index, most of the components ended the session with positive performances, with 26 stocks in the green and nine in the red. The shares of Banco del Bajío stood out, which rose 7.36% after the publication of a good quarterly report.
