Boil water order removed in Texas City

HOUSTON – The authorities of the city of Texas City eliminated this Friday before noon the order to boil the water, after some chemical tests registered the presence of bacteria in the pipes of the city.

“It is safe (for the community) to restore normal activities,” the city said in a public statement.

On Thursday, the Texas City authorities announced the possible presence of bacteria after a chemical analysis, for which they said that within a period of 24 hours they recommended boiling the water as a precautionary measure for the most common activities such as human consumption, brushing the teeth , wash dishes or prepare meals.

“The public aqueduct system has taken the necessary steps to restore the quality of the water distributed to the community and provided the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality with the results of laboratory tests indicating that the water no longer needs to be boiled,” the city said in explaining the situation.
