Get out of prison, into paradise!

After just under eight months, he became a tennis legend Boris Becker (55) released from Huntercombe Prison in Oxfordshire, UK. He was actually sentenced to two and a half years for bankruptcy crimes. THE were spared him.

Instead of having to continue serving his sentence in his cell, Boris is once again enjoying life in luxurious freedom. To be more precise on São Tomé, a picturesque island about 200 kilometers off the coast of Africa. It is known for its breathtaking rock and coral worlds, rainforests and tropical beaches. On Instagram he sends New Year’s greetings to his fans – directly from the deserted idyll.

“It’s the last day of the year and I wanted to say a few words to my loved ones and to the people who respect and stood by me in what has been the hardest year of my life.”

And further: “Now it’s over and I think I came out stronger than before. I think my mental health is better than before, but I could never have made it without the help and support of so many people.”

After just a few weeks back from jail, the former Wimbledon star seems to have put the hard times behind him.

Boris’: “Thank you, thank you, thank you! 2022 is over now. let’s put it behind us God bless you.” Then there are a few big Becker smacks in the camera.

There is not a soul to be seen in the background of his video, but he is unlikely to be on vacation alone on the luxury island. Most likely there: His girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro (33). After all, he described her in an interview with Steven Gätjen (50) as “the love of his life”.

Boris could hardly have flown further away. If you run your finger along the equator on the map, you will find a tiny spot in front of Guinea – the island republic of São Tomé and Príncipe. The second smallest country in Africa. It should normally take over 20 hours to get there, and only a few airlines fly to the island.

Fun Fact: The dreamy holiday destination is also known as the “Island of Illusions”. Why? They are part of a volcanic chain and very mountainous.

What makes Sao Tome so special? In addition to long sandy beaches, coconut trees and luxury hotels, the island is only known to a few. So Boris Becker can relax and enjoy his privacy here – and the new year can come.
