Lhe Brazilian Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the arrest of Anderson Torres, the former justice and security minister under President Jair Bolsonaro. As federal police chief, his responsibility is at stake in the assault on Brazil’s main democratic institutions on Sunday in the capital Brasilia.

Immediately after the violence, he was fired by the governor of the Federal District. With this arrest warrant, the Supreme Court complies with the request made on Sunday by the Attorney General.

Police were raiding Mr Torres’ home on Tuesday, according to local media. The ex-minister was however not present since he is currently in Florida, the American state where Jair Bolsonaro is hospitalized due to abdominal pain. The far-right ex-president had left Brazil two days before Lula’s inauguration, refusing to give him the presidential sash.
