Carnival parade at the float instead of from the spectator seat: VOL.AT accompanied the Bregenz prince couple at the carnival parade.
The carnival parade is typically experienced from the spectator seat. Unless you are a member of a carnival guild.
VOL.AT reporter Mirjam experienced a different perspective on the move on Sunday for once: she was allowed to accompany the Bregenz carnival couple during the move.
Big move in Bregenz
After two years of waiting, Bregenz finally became a stronghold for fools again on Sunday. As early as 12:30 p.m., the first carnival fans were cavorting at the Bauhaus in Bregenz, where the groups gathered for the parade. The final touches to the costumes were also made there, such as golden face glitter for the Bregenz fools.
On the road with Rocketman Gü
Together with Prince Gü I. Ore LXV and her loveliness, Princess Michaela I., we went to the carnival float. This year’s motto is “Rocketman”. Such is Prince Gü himself, as he and his companion reveal in the VOL.AT interview. Appropriately, there is also a rocket on the carnival float, with which little girls could launch into the sky.
360 degree view from the rocket
Editor Mirjam was also allowed to take a seat in the rocket on the carnival float during the parade. The 360-degree camera was also there.
Moving through Bregenz
Punctually at 2 p.m. we set off from the assembly point in the direction of Kornmarktplatz. For the royal couple and their entourage, it was immediately a question of creating a good atmosphere, shouting ore ore and handing out sweets. True to this year’s motto, one or the other dance routine to hits by Elton John could not be missing. Clown mascot Fridolin ran alongside the car with the entourage and made the little visitors’ eyes light up.

Finally carnival again
Numerous Mäschgerle and carnival fans from Bregenz and the surrounding area gathered along the route and celebrated the high carnival with them. The weather also played along: although it was cloudy, it didn’t rain for the duration of the parade. The old masters of ceremonies provided the entertainment with stalls and brought Schupfnudel, red and white pasta and drinks to the people.
