On Thursday, the stage was set for rehearsals for Saturday’s semi-final in Melodi Grand Prix.

For Atle Pettersen (33), the test went beyond all expectations.

– It was a bit much, but in a positive way. It suddenly hit me that I’m going to stand on this stage and sing this song that means so much to me. Then I simply couldn’t hold back the tears, he tells God kveld Norge.

Have been sick

Pettersen says that he woke up on Monday morning with a high fever and was worried about Saturday’s performance.

– It’s clear when you wake up on Monday with a fever of 39.5, you’re not terribly high on your hat and overjoyed about it. Everyone said “it’s a long time until Saturday”, but then it’s not very long.

Furthermore, the artist says that he had to keep his spirits up.

– I’ve had to have faith that it will pass and luckily nothing has stuck in my throat, so I haven’t had any problems with my voice.

– Touched by the whole scheme

Pettersen’s form had improved much for Thursday’s tests. This allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief.

– I was very moved by the whole arrangement. I felt that this will pass and that I am over it. The pieces have fallen into place and this is how I wanted it to be. I am almost moved to tell about it now.

The singer believes there were several people who felt a tear in the corner of their eye during the rehearsals.

– In such a concept, there are an extremely large number of people who are at work to ensure that everything goes as it should. When everything falls into place, something magical happens. I think there were more people who thought “yes, this fits” and that it hit a nerve, he says.
