Bundesliga

After beating Union Berlin 2-1 last Saturday, Borussia Dortmund is two points behind FC Bayern in the fight for the championship. BVB is currently in the preparations for the next trend-setting game in the fight for the title. On Saturday, the Westphalians cannot afford to slip up at VfB Stuttgart, who are themselves deep in the relegation battle.

Even before the game kicks off, BVB has good news. Winter newcomer Julien Duranville is finally taking part in training – against VfB he will not celebrate his debut for Dortmund.

The 16-year-old came to Dortmund from RSC Anderlecht at the end of January for 8.5 million euros. Great expectations rest on him. After all, he should be the new young star in black and yellow. So far, however, he has only been able to support his team from the sidelines.

Due to health reasons, the young player still has to take it easy. This is caused by a muscle tear.

BVB: Duranville talks about “challenging” start

Now he speaks openly on the BVB website about his bumpy start with the Bundesliga club. At the beginning of January, Julien Duranville’s priority was rehab instead of success in training. The young Belgian should initially focus on his health – anything but optimal starting conditions. This time was “challenging” for him, as he now admits.

Since March, however, he has been allowed to increase his activities again. Now the young talent can also face the next challenge: arriving in the team at BVB.

His French-speaking colleagues are particularly supportive. Thomas Meunier is helping him with “the integration, especially as far as the language is concerned.”

The Belgian can also easily communicate in French with Sébastien Haller and Raphael Guerreiro. With the other BVB players, English remains the preferred language for the time being. In order to really arrive in Dortmund, he wants himself “in the medium term, of course, communicate in German”.

“It’s important that I integrate myself into the group and of course I hope to play a few minutes at some point.”

Julien Duranville on his ambitions at BVB

Despite initial problems, the Belgian seems to feel pretty comfortable in Dortmund. Coach Edin Terzić still wants to take things a little slower. But the young star has big ambitions. “It’s important that I integrate myself into the group and of course I hope to play a few minutes at some point.”

BVB: Duranville raves about Dembélé and Sancho

Ex-stars Ousmane Dembélé and Jadon Sancho had a major influence on Duranville deciding to move to Dortmund early on.

I think it’s fantastic how young players are developed here. You know, I’ve been a fan of Ousmane Dembélé since I was a little boy. I love his way of playing football and at the time I really wanted to know which club was behind it. This was the first time I really became aware of BVB. The final argument was then Jadon Sancho. A great footballer and he’s at home on the wing like Dembélé and I.”

The Belgian himself is confident and plans to attend a game for Borussia Dortmund this season.
