Do you dream of going on vacation with your children, but your budget does not necessarily allow it? Know that the CAF can help you finance your project thanks to specific aid intended for families with modest incomes. You can take advantage of family vacation assistance (AVF) and/or child vacation assistance (AVE). This aid is allocated according to the family quotient, the resources and the situation of each one.

Choose from 3,600 destinations

The AVF allows you to book accommodation at a preferential rate in one of the 3,600 establishments with the Vacaf label, the website dedicated to holidays for all. You can choose between holiday villages and campsites located by the sea, in the mountains and in the countryside. CAF assistance is paid directly to the service provider: all you have to do is pay the balance of the stay, with a minimum of 50 euros.

The amount of aid may vary depending on the length of stay, the percentage of coverage and the ceiling set by the fund. THE amount of the AVG allowance can go up to several hundred euros per year. Our colleagues from Capital took an example from the Parisian fund: “at the Paris CAF, the AVF can amount to a maximum of 1,100 euros, per stay, for a family with 3 or more children”. It should be noted that all those eligible for AVF received a letter before the end of March giving them details of their rights. All the details are on the site of the CAF.

The AVE allows you to enroll a child in a collective stay approved by the CAF – such as a summer camp or a summer camp. It therefore does not concern the entire family like the AVF. On the other hand, this aid also makes it possible to ensure holidays abroad, which is not the case with aid for family holidays. Children between the ages of 3 and 16 are still subject to compulsory schooling and therefore cannot leave outside school holiday periods.

CAF aid is also paid to the organizer of the stay and the applicant only has to pay the balance of the stay with a minimum of 10 euros. As for the AVF, the amount varies according to the duration of the stay, the percentage of support and the ceiling defined by the CAF. The amount of compensation can also be several hundred euros.

What are the criteria to be eligible for this aid?

To benefit from this aid, you must meet certain conditions. You must have been a CAF recipient for some time (for example, since October 2022 to benefit from the AVF), have a family quotient below a threshold determined by your fund (700 euros by default) and have received a notification of rights before the end of March 2023. You must also comply with the following rules:

  • For the AVF, you must leave with at least one of your children aged under 18 (born between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2022) and respect the school holiday periods if your children are in school.
  • For the AVE, you must register your child for a stay offered by a Vacaf partner or by your CAF.
