FPÖ leader Christof Bitschi was a guest on Tuesday at “Vorarlberg LIVE”.
The corona pandemic, how to deal with it and what conclusions can be drawn from it for the future, are still issues that concern politicians. Even if the World Health Organization (WHO) recently declared the pandemic over. ÖVP Governor Markus Wallner has announced an evaluation, the process has been running since March. For FPÖ state chairman Christof Bitschi, this is not a sufficient reappraisal, as he emphasizes in an interview with Vorarlberg Live.
“The government made a lot of mistakes”
“It’s important to do an error analysis, because the government has made a lot of mistakes,” says Bitschi. He and his party would have supported the first lockdown because the situation was new for everyone, but the further lockdowns would have been too much. “To act now as if you couldn’t have known that is fundamentally wrong,” he criticizes.
In addition to the lockdowns, Bitschi is also concerned about the lack of staff in the health sector. “No further evaluation will help, action must finally be taken,” rumbles the FPÖ state chairman. In his opinion, the wages of health and nursing staff in particular should be increased. “The framework conditions must be adjusted.”

Another thorn in the side are Bitschi penalties that were wrongly pronounced during the corona pandemic. They now have to be paid back. Teenagers were robbed of their youth, which must be compensated for. “In addition to a relentless error analysis and the resulting knowledge for the future, a genuine and honest review of the Corona policy must also include comprehensive compensation for the damage caused,” summarizes the politician. “Only concrete reparations for the damage caused by the government through restrictions on freedom and school closures will bring the necessary justice.”
