oaxaca.- A tourist from Canada was murdered in the Puerto Escondido municipal agency, in the Coastal region of Oaxaca, according to local reports.

The victim identified as Victor Masson, 27 years old, was attacked yesterday with a firearm from behind when he was in Colonia Arroyo Seco, in the Municipality of San Pedro Mixtepec-District 22.

According to preliminary reports, it was reported that the body was found lying on Calle Mar del Norte, in the area near the Bus Terminal, and less than two kilometers from the Puerto Escondido International Airport.

The State Attorney General’s Office reported that it began the investigation into the murder of one more tourist in the last few hours in the entity, since just over the weekend Benjamin Gamond, originally from Argentina, also died.

Gamond and two other Argentine tourists were attacked with a machete on May 12 by a man on a beach in the community of Chacahua, an Afro-Mexican town on the state’s coast.

Benjamin’s relatives reported the death yesterday at a hospital in Mexico City.

“The Gamond family reports with immense pain the sad news that Benja did not make it. The miracle did not happen. The efforts were enormous, like his strength and heart, but it was not enough,” they published on social networks.

Last weekend, the young Argentine, 23 years old and originally from the Province of Córdoba, was with his friend Santiago, and his girlfriend, Macarena, in a restaurant, when Cruz Irving Martínez Flores, 21, originally from Ometepec, Guerrero, suddenly appeared and attacked them without saying a word.

Santiago and Macarena received minor injuries, but Benjamin took the brunt with deep head injuries.
