Quintana Roo, Mexico.- Four taxi drivers were arrested yesterday for assaulting a driver from the Uber platform in Benito Juárez (Cancún), Quintana Roo, confirmed official reports.

Accused by national and international tourists of acting like a mafia, the taxi drivers were detained at the height of Bulevar Kukulcán.

Jorge Aguilar Osorio, Secretary of the Benito Juárez City Council, assured that the Mobility Institute will also be asked to withdraw the concessions to the detainees.

“4 taxi drivers arrested for disturbing public order. Their vehicles were also detained and tomorrow we will send a letter to @imoveqroo for the suspension of concessions. #YaBasta #CancúnEsPrimero,” the municipal official published yesterday.

According to local reports, the taxi drivers arrested were Eyner Mauricio, with unit 5434; Juan Carlos, with taxi 5033; Yukio Alfredo J. H, with taxi 4715, and Arsenio Jaimes, with taxi 8237.

Faced with this and other attacks, citizens began to circulate a proposal on social networks so that on January 27 neither citizens nor visitors use taxis in Cancun.
