Capitol Police evacuate a Senate office building for a possible active shooter

The Capitol Police evacuated this Wednesday one of the United States Senate office buildings after receiving a telephone alert about a possible active shooter in the area.

“Our agents are searching both inside and around the Senate office buildings,” the Capitol Police reported in a brief message on the X social network, formerly known as Twitter, adding that there are still no “confirmed reports of shots” .

Specifically, the Russell building has been evacuated and the agents have cut off access to the underground tunnels, although the main Senate building remains open. The Capitol Police have alerted the population to stay away from the area, as reported by NBC News.
