career
After leaving school, Margot’s acting career took off when she landed a role on the Australian soap opera Neighbors in 2008. This made her famous in Australia. A short time later she began to expand her career in the USA.

Her international breakthrough came with her role in the Oscar-nominated film The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). She played alongside Leonardo DiCaprio the female lead.
Since then, her career as an actress has gone from strength to strength. She has starred in three DC Comics adaptations as Harley Quinn. In 2017 she received the “Critics’ Choice Movie Award” in the category “Best Actress in an Action Movie”.

Margot grew up in Australia with her single mother and lived with her three siblings with her grandparents during her youth.
When she moved to the USA to further her acting career internationally, she lived in New York for several years. In 2014 she moved to London with five friends and lived there in a large communal apartment.
On the set of the film “Suite française – Melodie der Liebe” (2014) she met her future husband, the British assistant director Tom Ackerley. The couple married two years later.
Much more is not known from her private life. In 2021, Margot announced on her Instagram channel that she was stepping away from social media for an indefinite period.
