Carlos Alcaraz defeats Novak Djokovic in five sets for his first Wimbledon title and second Grand Slam trophy
The number 1 in the world, the Spanish Carlos Alcarazwon his first Wimbledon by beating number 2 in the final, Novak Djokovicin five sets (1-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1, 3-6 and 6-4), thus denying the Serb his record of titles of grand slamswith what would have been an eighth Wimbledon trophy.
At the age of 20, the Spaniard won his second Grand Slam title after the 2022 US Open.
Instead of the 36-year-old Djokovic becoming the oldest men’s champion at Wimbledon in the Open era, the 20-year-old Alcaraz became the third-youngest.
