After you have marked your cat at a veterinarian, they must also be registered with the Swedish Board of Agriculture. You can do that from 2 January 2023 and it is something that has long been done on dogs.

– It is not a huge change. Many cats are tagged today, but it would be great if more were tagged. But it is not enough to tag the cat, you also have to register it. Otherwise, the cat has a number that is not connected to any person, says veterinarian Annelie Grip Hansson.

Does not apply to cats born before -08

The obligation to tag and register your cat does not apply to cats born before 1 January 2008 or younger than 4 months.
