A painfully repeated situation, as common as it is sad and worrying that it seems to have no end, no answers. In Bernardo de Irigoyen, yesterday a new commissioned crime was registered at the hands of hitmen mobilized on motorcycles, the fourth in two years.

The victim in this case was a teacher identified as Carla Betiana De Olivera, 37 years old. The woman herself was in the driver’s seat of a Renault Sandero Stepway she owned when she was hit by a burst of bullets. Her husband, identified as Ismael Sergio Batista C. (42), who was in the passenger seat, was also hit, but is out of danger.

as he was able to reconstruct The territory Based on sources from the Misiones Police and residents of the neighborhood, everything happened around 5:30 p.m. on Malvinas Argentinas street in the Provincias Unidas neighborhood, right on the border with the Obrero neighborhood.

The vehicle was stopped at the time of the incident. It was then that two motorcycle subjects arrived at the site and stopped right in front of it. In these circumstances, the companion took out a weapon and fired several times at the occupants. Then the bike disappeared from the site.

The scene of the event is on the border with Brazil, so everything indicates that the murderers fled to the town of Barracao. Until yesterday there were no suspects in custody. The other three events mentioned also have this in common: there are no prisoners, no suspects, and no firm leads. There is nothing.

The teacher was 37 years old.

The commotion took over the place once the shots were heard and the neighbors were able to dimension what would have happened. The ambulance was called, which arrived to transfer De Olivera to the hospital, but the woman had already died at the scene.

According to the medical report, the woman had a bullet in her temple and another in her neck, both with exit holes, indicating a large caliber. Her partner, meanwhile, was shot in the arm, also with an entry and exit hole.

The Scientific Police of the XII Regional Unit did the rigorous tasks on the site. Both the provincial force and the Brazilian police authorities mounted a joint operation to try to find those involved and bring some evidence to the investigation.

In the case, the Investigating Court One of San Pedro intervenes, in charge of Judge Ariel Belda Palomar. Until yesterday there were no major news about the investigation and the hypotheses, beyond the fact that it is clear that it is a reckoning.

In any case, the context of smuggling appears again as a firm clue to follow. And here appears a disturbing query. Was the teacher the recipient of those bullets?

It is that there were not a few who related to her husband and survivor as a person linked to smuggling, particularly wine and fuel. Regarding the latter, it was said that it was common to see him driving through that same neighborhood in a truck with a tank on top.

Background

The last similar event in the town occurred on September 23. The victim at the time was Sebastián “Chany” Fernández Da Rosa (42), designated as a strong force at the border, who apparently managed to monopolize the transfer of any merchandise at the border. In other words, his warehouse functioned as a parallel customs office where he could withdraw what was purchased in the foreign country.

The event occurred around 9:30 a.m. in a merchandise warehouse located on the border with Brazil, on Tránsito Pesado avenue, at its intersection with Saltos del Moconá. The victim was lying on a truck when the killer arrived on his motorcycle and shot him, then fled to an unknown destination.

The police doctor later determined that Chany had seven gunshot wounds.

The other victims of the assassination are Juan María López (50) and Rafael Antúnez de Olivera (45), murdered in 2021. However, in addition to these events, the town cries for the crime of Ariel Camargo de Lara (19), not They know nothing of the whereabouts of Maximiliano Pimentel (24), in whose search his uncle Diego (34) ended up shot to death. In other words, 6 deaths and one missing person related to smuggling.

Juan María López (50) was assassinated on May 15, 2021, around 12:55 p.m., on an internal street in the Santa Rita neighborhood, a few blocks from the international dry border. According to what he was able to reconstruct this medium, López was driving his Ford Ranger Limited truck until a motorcycle with two occupants crossed in front of them.

It was in that instance that the subject who was accompanying the motorcycle pulled out a weapon and without saying a word opened fire on several occasions. The first data collected by the investigators indicate that a total of five shots were fired.

After that, the murderers fled without stealing anything. López came to be transferred in a private way to the Irigoyen hospital, where unfortunately half an hour later he died.

The autopsy revealed that the lawyer’s heart was almost destroyed by the bullets, which had previously pierced his lung. That is to say, an accurate death attack, although the investigators still do not have the elements to affirm that this was the product of the professionalism of the person who fired the shots.

López received a total of three shots and only one of them with an entry and exit hole. It was also possible to know that the bullets came from about 20 to 25 centimeters away from the Ford Ranger truck that the victim was driving. It is known that it was a heavy-caliber weapon, which sought to secure the job.

The murder of Rafael Antúnez de Olivera (45) occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. on November 18, in the heart of the town, in front of one of the main squares and two blocks from the police station. On this occasion, through the security cameras, it was possible to establish that it was a single murderer.

The victim was traveling with a teenager close to the family in a Chevrolet Montana truck on the main avenue of the border town, Andrés Guacurarí, a few blocks from the local police station. He stopped at a traffic light and that became the site of his end.

According to sources that intervened in the investigation, he received three shots to the head, which indicates the presence of a hired criminal. The three bullet holes were located, two in the left parietal zone and the rest under the ear on the same side. Two of the projectiles that caused those injuries remained lodged in the body and could be rescued.

Over time, progress has been made with testimonials and different expertise, but the investigations did not result in arrests.

A claim that ended in shooting

In April Diego Pimentel (31) was shot by Adilson Zang (33), who is suspected of having had something to do with the disappearance of Maximiliano Pimentel (24) -Diego’s cousin- about whom nothing has been known since the beginning of that month.

Diego was assassinated when he approached the attacker’s house to ask for explanations about Maximiliano’s disappearance, since he worked with Zang in wine trafficking on the border. The violent sequence was recorded by a security camera and although the murderer turned himself in to the authorities, there is not a single indication of the missing person.

The victim received 10 shots as established by the autopsy ordered by the First Investigating Court of the town of San Pedro.
