Do you remember the lawsuit from the investors behind Cyberpunk 2077? In December 2020, investors sued developer CD Projekt Red for allegedly withholding information about the game’s state and performance. When the game was released on December 10, 2020, it was riddled with bugs on most platforms and could be played with far too few frames per second due to poor optimization.

The spook is slowly coming to an end

To settle this same lawsuit, CD Projekt, who have worked hard to get Cyberpunk 2077 back on its feet, is paying $1.85 million (thanks, Video game chronicle). According to the lawsuit, the studio allegedly made misleading claims about the game and failed to disclose to lenders that the title was in such an unplayable state.

CD Projekt is prepared to pay this sum in an out-of-court settlement, provided the plaintiffs refrain from further legal action. The judge can thus dismiss the complaint and does not have to deal with it further.

A counsel for the plaintiffs estimated the total damage at around $11 million. CD Projekt Red even got off relatively well. The plaintiffs now have to split the $1.85 million. This money will also pay settlement administration costs, taxes, attorneys’ fees and costs, and incentive awards for plaintiffs.
