In addition to gamer monitors, Acer also made its new gaming notebooks official at its conference at CES 2023. In all, there are two models from the Predator line and two from the Nitro line.

The first started to have Helios 16 and Helios 18 as its new members. The second now has Nitro 16 and Nitro 17. TudoCelular covered the presentation and tells you the details.

Acer Predator Helios 16 and 18

The Predator Helios 16 (PH16-71) and Predator Helios 18 (PH18-71) are the company’s two most advanced laptops for this generation. They have a new design with an updated thermal part, for less heating. Now, there are dual 5th generation AeroBlade 3D metal custom fans and vector heat pipes in the shape of rectangles, not to mention the effects of liquid metal thermal grease.

The chassis for the Helios series now comes with a matte black and clean edges, in addition to the slimmer bezels. Most of the ports have moved to the rear, while there’s still a customizable RGB light bar in that portion. The mini-LED backlit keyboard has 1.8mm key travel and anti-ghosting N-key rollover.

The main configurations include 13th generation Intel Core i9 or i7 HX processors, accompanied by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card. The machines offer up to 32 GB of DDR5 RAM memory and up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD storage.

The difference between them is in the screen size. The Helios 16 comes equipped with a 16-inch display, with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (WQXGA) at 165 Hz or 240 Hz, or a Mini LED at 250 Hz, with AUO AmLED technology for over 1,000 nits of brightness and contrast of 1,000,000:1, plus 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

For its part, the Helios 18 provides an 18-inch panel, with both options for the smallest plus a WUXGA alternative (1920 x 1200 pixels).

Acer Nitro 16 and 17

The Acer Nitro 16 (AN16-51) offers 5% more frontal use than its predecessor, with a screen-to-body ratio of 84%. The monitor has 16-inch WUXGA or WQXGA resolution, with a refresh rate of 165 Hz.

The machine supports NVIDIA Advanced Optimus, which enables dynamic switching between integrated and dedicated graphics without the need for a system reboot. This model has a four-zone backlit keyboard and supports 100% sRGB color gamut.

The Nitro 17, on the other hand, contains a 17.3-inch display, with Full HD resolution of 144 Hz or 165 Hz, or Quad HD with a refresh rate of 165 Hz. Screen utilization reaches 81%, and there is also a four-zone RGB backlit keyboard.

Both models come equipped with 13th generation Intel Core HX series processors, up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM and 2TB SSD M.2 PCIe Gen 4 storage.

In terms of connectivity, the highlights are Killer DoubleShot Pro and Killer Wi-Fi 6 1650i technologies, for more bandwidth, in addition to an HD camera, two microphones and two speakers. There’s an HDMI 2.1 port, a microSD card reader, two Thunderbolt 4 ports with Power Delivery, and three USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports.
