With Caducy, the start-up I-Virtual wants to improve prevention and diagnosis by calculating several vital parameters. A simple video selfie of about thirty seconds will be necessary.

Know if you are healthy with a 30 second video? This is possible thanks to the start-up I-Virtual. The French company has developed a technology to measure several vital parameters remotely, only through a video selfie.

The final diagnosis contains, among other things, the heart rate, the respiratory rate, the stress level but also the blood pressure, all without a cuff. “These are physiological parameters that will be measured using the skin of the face”, indicates Gaël Constancin, president of I-Virtual and guest of Tech&Co from the CES in Las Vegas.

Thanks to “contactless photoplethysmography”, the device used will make it possible to collect all the necessary data, in particular with the pulse waveforms. A simple camera or webcam is required, regardless of the type and age of the device. “Any smartphone, even an iPhone 6, tablet or computer can be used,” says the president of I-Virtual.

Module integrated into tele-consultation platforms

However, this tool is not offered to Internet users in the form of a third-party application. This is a module integrated into certain tele-consultation platforms but also into insurance and mutual insurance websites.

And I-Virtual now tends to be exported internationally. After developing its tool in France, the Metz company now offers its services on the European market, in Switzerland, Italy and Portugal. “The Scandinavian countries are also one of our objectives because they have a strong appetite for e-health”, mentioned Gaël Constancin.
