Automotive supplier Continental is presenting a display combination for future vehicles. A curved ultrawide display with a width of 129 centimeters stretches slightly curved from A-pillar to A-pillar (Pillar2Pillar). The TFT display with a resolution of 7680 by 660 pixels has a diagonal of 47.5 inches (1.21 m). Screens that combine emotions and security are becoming an important purchase criterion, says Philipp von Hirschheydt, Head of the User Experience business unit at Continental.

A combination of two display types should ensure less distraction. In any case, the Pillar2Pillar solutions exacerbate another problem: the arms are too short to reach everything. Technically, the curved ultrawide display can be operated by touch, but at the CES the Hanover-based company is showing a different operating concept by adding another display.

The In2visible display is only visible when it is needed. It is hidden under a semi-permeable surface that flows seamlessly into the cockpit design. Decorative wood surfaces, carbon surfaces, and other designs are possible. A matrix backlight ensures that content is displayed in the necessary brightness and with the highest possible contrast in any lighting situation. The combination should be in the first production vehicles in 2025.
