That it has been difficult to get hold of a Playstation 5 at a reasonable price is not news. Private retailers have feasted heavily on being able to sell the consoles well above market price to eager players, but according to Sony CEO Jim Ryan, the drought is over. Playstation 5 is no longer a scarce commodity, something he promised dearly and sacredly in his speech during the CES fair.

“Everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward”

Sony blames the long-term lack of consoles on a lack of components, but apparently it should no longer be a problem to get hold of the semiconductors that (among other things) made it so much in production in the past. Whether it will now actually be easier to find a Playstation 5 on store shelves around the world remains to be seen, but of course we hope that is true.

Have you got your hands on a Playstation 5 or are you still looking?

The end of scalpers? We sincerely hope so.
