The prince harryDuke of Sussex, has made a bizarre claim that his mother, the late Princess Diana, bought him an Xbox as a gift in 1997.

Prince Harry is currently on a press tour promoting his newly released memoir “Spare”, which spans Harry’s life from his childhood to his highly publicized relationship with Meghan Markle.

Since Prince Harry’s Spare memoir hit shelves on January 10, several of the claims made in it have been questioned. Small details provided in the book about various events in Harry’s life appear to contradict earlier accounts and statements by other people.

Prince Harry claims to have received an Xbox as a gift in ‘1997’, but it was released in 2001

However, one that has to do with the original Xbox console, which should have been detected relatively easily by any fact checker, is striking.

In his book, Prince Harry recounts how his Aunt Sarah gave him a gift on his 13th birthday, supposedly bought by Princess Diana before she died in 1997. Harry opened the gift and said that inside was an Xbox console. Harry said he was “delighted” with the gift because he “loved video games.”

However, he adds that this is how the story had been told to him, and that he had “no idea” whether or not it was true that the gift was from his mother. Given that the original Xbox console was not released until 2001 and that the brand did not exist at all in 1997, the account is logically inaccurate.

Although Prince Harry didn’t get an Xbox as a gift in 1997, that doesn’t mean he didn’t get a video game console of some sort on that occasion. Xbox didn’t exist then, but Prince Harry may have confused it with another console that did exist back then.

In 1997, several major video game consoles could be purchased, such as the Sony PlayStation, the Nintendo 64, and the Sega Saturn, among others. Assuming Harry received a console for his 13th. his birthday in 1997, most likely it was one of those systems.
