Algeria is preparing to host the 2022 African Nations Championship. Everything is ready to host the continental football event, from January 13 to February 4, 2023, particularly with regard to stadiums and infrastructure.
With no less than three weeks from the start of the tournament, our country is fine-tuning the preparations for the opening ceremony which promises to be grandiose, on January 13 at the new Nelson Mandela stadium (Baraki). Several emblematic figures should be present to attend. We quote in particular the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, and that of CAF, Patrice Motsepe.
This morning, some Algerian media announced another prominent presence for the opening ceremony. Indeed, it is that of Zinedine Zidane. But it later turned out that this is just a rumor.
“The report that an invitation was sent to Zinedine Zidane to attend the opening ceremony of CHAN-2022 is false. The CHAN Media Commission has a facebook page and is the only one to give the correct information about the continental event”. Denied the communication officer of CHAN, the journalist Farid Ait-Saâda.
New Nelson Mandela Stadium, inauguration date finally known
In addition, the inauguration date of the new Nelson Mandela stadium is finally known. It will be for Saturday January 7th. On the occasion of the friendly match which will oppose the national team A’ to its Ghanaian counterpart. The kick-off is set for 8 p.m., we learned from the Algerian football federation.
The match will be played in the presence of the public. And as proof, the sale of tickets has started, via the digital platform “Tadkirati”. The price of the ticket is fixed at 200 DA.
