CHAN-2022 is fast approaching. The opening ceremony promises to be grand. It is hoped that it will be similar to that of the Mediterranean Games Oran-2022.
Algeria is preparing to host the 2022 African Nations Championship. Everything is ready to host the continental football event, from January 13 to February 4, 2023, in particular with regard to stadiums and infrastructure.
With no less than three weeks to the start of the tournament, our country is fine-tuning preparations for the opening ceremony. Several emblematic figures should be present to attend.
We quote, among others, the president of FIFA Gianni Infantino. Indeed, and according to our colleagues from El-Bilad, the head of the first instance of international football will be present alongside the president of CAF, Patrice Motsepe.
According to our colleagues from El-Bilad, the opening ceremony of CHAN-2022 will also be marked by the presence of national coach Djamel Belmadi.
Slight change in the match schedule
Still regarding CHAN-2022, and on the proposal of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has agreed to introduce a slight modification to the schedule of matches for the tournament. Thus, the opening match of the competition between Algeria and Libya will be the only meeting of the day of January 13, 2023.
Initially scheduled for 5 p.m. Algerian time, it will be played at 8 p.m. at the new Baraki stadium. The second Group A match between Ethiopia and Mozambique, initially scheduled for January 13, 2023 at 8 p.m. Algerian time, will take place the next day, January 14, 2023, at 2 p.m.
BF meeting: CHAN-2022 on the agenda
The federal bureau of the FAF met yesterday. A meeting chaired by the president of the FAF Djahid Zefizef. Among the items on the agenda is obviously CHAN-2022.
In the absence of the President of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Mr. Rachid OUKALI (on sick leave) and his vice-president, Mr. Yacine BENHAMZA (on the move), it was Mr. Réda GHERBI who a detailed report on the state of progress of the preparations which are experiencing a sustained pace.
Thus, several aspects were reviewed, such as:
1-Return to the choice of the official poster for the ”Marhaba” event.
2-Braining work on the stadiums and the various spaces to accommodate the related activities of CHAN as well as the transport buses of the delegations.
3-The design of the giant flags of the participating selections.
4-The coverage of athletics tracks.
5-Signage (outdoor and indoor) and installation of LED screens.
6-Layout and decoration of the Fan Zones.
7-Ticketing, Ticket Center, accreditations, …
8-The advertising display.
9-The audiovisual component; the competition anthem; the opening and closing ceremonies.
10-Sponsorship and the fight against ambush marketing.
