The spokesman for Potsdam’s mayor, Kai Fortelka, who only took office on February 1, is resigning. According to PNN information, the 48-year-old asked for his contract to be canceled after just ten weeks. The reasons lie in the family area, it said on request from the Potsdam City Hall.

Only two and a half months ago, Fortelka took over the post of press spokesman for the mayor of Potsdam and head of the press and communication department in the city administration. He came from the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (KZBV), where he was press officer and head of public relations for eight and a half years. In an application process, Fortelka finally prevailed for the post of mayor spokesman. The position in the Potsdam town hall is now to be filled from the ranks of the other applicants, it was said. A new application process is therefore not necessary.

The sudden departure of Schubert’s spokesman can be broken down into a number of recent departures from managerial positions in the city. Last year, for example, Sophia Eltrop and Claudia Wiest, the managing directors of the municipal utilities and the transport company, said goodbye. In November, Education Councilor Noosha Aubel (independent) announced that she would be stepping down in February. Almost at the same time, the head of the Potsdam Museum, Jutta Goetzmann, announced her departure.
