The public prosecutor’s office has brought charges against the former head of a day-care center in Neuruppin and her deputy. It’s about the suspicion of coercion, said prosecutor Gerd Heininger on Thursday. The women are accused of forcing children to eat. First the “Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung” reported about the charge. The public prosecutor in Neuruppin told the newspaper that it was probably about educational methods in the daycare center that were possibly antiquated.

It was not yet clear when the process would begin. In the summer of last year, after allegations by parents and discussions with educators, the city of Neuruppin filed a criminal complaint and terminated the daycare management.

According to the Criminal Code, coercion can be brought about by force or threats. It is punished with imprisonment of up to three years or a fine. (dpa)
