Charges against accused of running over a paramedic;  Tempers flare outside the court

The Department of Justice filed charges this Monday against the accused of fatally running over paramedic Joelizbett Martínez, who was traveling by motorboat, in events that occurred on July 23 on PR-54, in Guayama.

The woman, identified as Glendalys Rodríguez Rojas, entered the case for arrest. She faces charges of reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without a required license for the vehicle.

Rodríguez Rojas was set on $20,000 bail and the preliminary hearing was scheduled for September 6.

A group of people waited outside the court for the departure of Rodríguez Rojas, whom they called a murderer, while they recorded it. Some even hit the vehicle in which the defendant was traveling.
