In Eymet, in the Dordogne, one in five inhabitants is British. Despite the 1,500 kilometers that separate them from Westminster (United Kingdom), the communion is real, Saturday, May 6. “It’s a great opportunity for us English to celebrate this coronation”, says a man. A complete woman: “It’s a great moment that we are about to experience.” On the other hand, a last nuance: “I think all that is outdated. The French were right, we don’t need a king anymore.”
A unifying event
In a restaurant in Bessines-sur-Gartempe (Haute-Vienne), the boss is English. He decorated his establishment and will broadcast the entire ceremony until mid-afternoon. “I am very happy. This type of event brings people together and makes people happy”, rejoices the manager of the establishment. 150,000 Britons officially live in France. They will obviously be among the tens of thousands of viewers.
