They denounce the violent death of almost 32,000 children and young people in Honduras between 2010 and 2022

Caracas, Aug 12 (EFE).- Hundreds of Chavistas mobilized this Saturday in Caracas in an “anti-imperialist march” called by the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), on International Youth Day and in support of the president Nicolas Maduro.

The mobilization, which was broadcast by the state channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), ended on a stage in downtown Caracas, where the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, arrived to thank the presence of a “rebellious, joyful youth , hopeful, looking to the future”.

He stressed that young people have “resisted” the effects of international economic sanctions applied to the country in the last eight years – some 930, according to the Executive – and have the support of the president, who ordered the Government “never to act with its back to the youth,” he said.

For her part, the youth general secretary of the PSUV, Grecia Colmenares, said that with this demonstration the young people “once again reaffirm their support” for the so-called Bolivarian revolution, in power since 1999, and for the “policies promoted” by the chief of the State.

“We have many reasons to celebrate International Youth Day,” he stressed.

At the beginning of the year, the president asked to “promote policies” to reduce unemployment, “especially youth”, through the reactivation of a social mission created in 2017 called “Youth Chamba (work)”, which -he said- “it remained in the inkwell” and “it was fading” and “blurring”.

According to independent studies, young people represent the country’s main emigration group, from which just over seven million people have left in search of economic improvements since 2015, according to estimates by United Nations agencies. EFE
